Sinking To A New Low With The Matthew Shepard Act

I do not understand why anyone would sink to such a low. virginia foxx decided that the murder of Matthew Shepard was because of a robbery, not because he was gay.



Now the same people that she "runs" with, "The American Family Association", is saying that the Matthew Shepard act is there to protect pedifiles. We all know that is not the case. The Matthew Shepard bill was designed to protect people from being harmed because they are different.

This has nothing to do with pedifiles. Read it for yourself and see how absurd these people are.

I hope that you and everyone else in America knows that this bill is set to protect all Americans not just gays.

Day Of Silence: April 17 2009

Founded in 1996, the Day of Silence has become the largest single student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. From the first-ever Day of Silence at the University of Virginia in 1996, to the organizing efforts in over 8,000 middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities across the country in 2008, its textured history reflects its diversity in both numbers and reach.

Last year’s Day of Silence on April 25 was held in memory of Lawrence King, a 15-year-old eighth-grade student in Oxnard, California, was shot and killed by a 14-year-old classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Hundreds of thousands of students at more than 8,000 schools participated. Their efforts were supported by hundreds of community-based "Breaking the Silence" events at the end of the day. Together, concerned students created a powerful call to action in order to prevent future tragedies.

There are simple steps that all schools can take to make schools safer for all students, to end the endemic name-calling and harassment that LGBT students and their allies face every day. We need to act now so that Lawrence King and the countless others who endure anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment will not be forgotten, and so that we can create an enduring legacy of safer schools for all in their names.

Schools Can Expel Gay Students

After a Lutheran school expelled two 16-year-old girls for having "a bond of intimacy" that was "characteristic of a lesbian relationship," the girls sued, contending the school had violated a state anti-discrimination law.

In response to that suit, an appeals court decided this week that the private religious school was not a business and therefore did not have to comply with a state law that prohibits businesses from discriminating. A lawyer for the girls said Tuesday that he would ask the California Supreme Court to overturn the unanimous ruling by a three-judge panel of the 4th District Court of Appeal.


The appeals court called its decision "narrow," but lawyers on both sides of the case said it would protect private religious schools across California from such discrimination suits.

Kirk D. Hanson, who represented the girls, said the "very troubling" ruling would permit private schools to discriminate against anyone, as long as the schools used their religious beliefs as justification.

"It is almost like it could roll back 20 to 30 years of progress we have made in this area," said the San Diego attorney. "Basically, this decision gives private schools the license to discriminate."

Shawnee Mission East Fights Back

Hundreds of people came out today with a counter message to Phelp's protest against an openly gay student being crowned homecoming king. The students of Shawnee Misssion East and the surrounding community held up signs of love, peace and tolerance.

The Phelp's cult were held to only one corner, while the anti-Phelps protester were able to feel up 3 corners around the school. As you can see the students of Shawnee were not happy at all that Westboro was there.

According to student Jake Davidson, there is a Gay and Straight Alliance at the school and students elected a homecoming king in 2007 who was openly gay.

“Everyone is equal whether you’re gay or straight,” said Davidson, a 16-year-old junior from Leawood and an organizer of the student protest.

“It’s really cool that everyone wants to be involved and take a stand against this. It doesn’t surprise me that everyone wants to help out.”

He said word of the counterprotest ran through the school like wildfire.

“It’s pretty much all anyone has been talking about this week,” he said.

Elton John Is No Longer A Friend Of The Gays

Dear Mr. (Oops) Sir Elton John,

After your words about prop 8, with USA TODAY, I am going to suggest that the gay community bans you and your shitty out of date music. Why don't you do the gays here in America a big favor and hop on your big gay hatting piano and fuck off!

"I don't want to be married. I'm very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership," John says. "The word 'marriage,' I think, puts a lot of people off.

Day Of Protest For Gays This Saturday

As many of you know, after all was said and done with the election, the gays in America lost a big fight. We all knew that Amendment 2 here in Florida was going to pass, but when prop 8 in
California passed, it was very disheartening. California...out of all places, I thought, had the majority of open-minded people in America. I am tired of being made to feel even less than a second class citizen. We should all have the right to be happy. We all should all have the right to show our love for the ones we love. I'm tired of feeling like I can't walk down the street and hold hands with my boyfriend because people don't think its "right". I'm tired of people thinking they can decide for me what is "right". I am a grown man that is in love with another grown man and there is nothing wrong with that. I want what everyone in America wants...to be free. I am going to fight for that right and I want all of you to join us.


This Saturday is going to be a day of protest across America.

Me and my boyfriend of 8 yrs plan on being one of the people speaking out in Pensacola. The sad thing about the protest in pensacola is as of now there are only 4 people willing to stand up and do something. The population of Pensacola alone (this is not including the surrounding areas of pensacola) is around 60,000 people. We know that at least 1 in 10 people are gay. That means that there are at least 6,000 gay men and women in Pensacola and only 4 care enough to do something. Please don't be one of those people who just sit back hoping things will change. We need everyone's voice to be heard.

I know the election is over but there are many out there that were not able to see some of the shit that was on TV. Here is a video that makes me want to vomit and then eat it. I'm sure that would not leave such a bad taste in my mouth as this video did.

HRC Sends Out Wrong Email On Amendment 2

This afternoon HRC sent out email to tell you to vote no on Florida Amendment 2. They made a mistake and told everyone to vote no on Amendment 102. Please do not make the mistake yourself. Remember it's Amendment 2 not 102. Thank you and go vote.

Don't let anyone take our rights away. As American citizens we have the right to love who we want and should be able to have the same rights as our neighbors.

10 Years Later...Nothing Is Done...

It's been ten years since 21-year-old Matthew Shepard lost his life after being violently beaten and left for dead along a remote Wyoming road.

His offense? Being himself – a conscientious college student who happened to be gay.

The murder shocked and saddened the nation, but a decade later, federal law still fails to recognize hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

It's time to get our heads out of the sand and stop pretending everthing is ok. It's not!! Over all we have not gained any rights. If anything we have lost many of our rights. We can no longer hold out for the states to do the right thing. If Black American's waited, like we are doing, they would still be slaves. Is that what you want? Do you want to be treated like a second class citizen? Do you want to be the next one to be tied to a fench post? I know I don't. So lets stand up together, let us hold hands, let us march for what is right! We must no longer be timid. We must not look weak! I'm Standing up!! Will you stand beside me or will you walk away with your head down?

Tell Obama to continue the fight to support hate crimes legislation and ask McCain to reverse his idiotic position.

California Marriage Equality Vote Losing By 5 Points

We are losing the vote in California. This is not good for any of us. If California , one of the most open-minded states in America passes prop 8, then what hope is their for the rest of us?

Here in florida we are going to vote on amendment 2. Which takes the rights away from all unmarried couples stright or gay. Not that gay couples in florida have any rights as it is, but this will make it virtually impossibly for gays to have any kind of civil rights.

We need to do all we can to make sure that both do not pass. Unfortionaly this takes money. So please donate anything you can for the California adds or for the Florida adds. It does not matter if its a dollar or a hundred dollars. Every dime matters.

I know that money is very tight these days because of the economy. So if you can not donate please let everyone you meet know how important your rights are to you. write your newspaper, a blog, your parents and your friends. Make bulletins and put them up in your neighborhoods. Do what you can. We need all the help we can get from the gay community and friends of the gay community.

Lets make sure that no one takes our rights away!!!
